2009
"Amrita, A school for special children and rehabilitation center" became a registered society in December 2009.
It was registered under PWD act in the year 2012 . It was also registered under national trust act in the year 2013. Amrita is an apex body in the field of disability and rehabilitation and is working with children with special needs since last 10 years . The institute has been making striking advances in building capacities to train persons with disability.
Amrita strives to be an institute of excellence focusing on high standards in every expect of its functioning to bring equality and dignity in the life of people with disability. The school was started with very small group of staff and had only a few children to begin with. Only available facilities were psychological intervention, speech therapy, Special education and physio therapy.
2010
March 16th 2010 : Amrita organized a free camp for screening of intractable epilepsy by Dr. Mittal from command hospital New Delhi.
April 10th 2010 : Children participated in adventure sports at Jyoti badhir vidyala, Bithoor organized by Manav Youth Organization New Delhi.
August 26th 2010 : The school staff organized an awareness seminar on children with special needs at home and at regular school. Mrs. Arpana Sharma and Mr. Jai Prakash from NIMH regional centre New Delhi.
October 31st 2010 : Children participated at special Olympics organized by Rotary club of Kanpur industrial and won 11 medals.
2011
February 15th - 16th 2011 : Children of the school participated in district games for disabled organized by special Olympics Bharat UP at green park stadium. They won five medals.
September 26TH 2011 : The school Organized a poster exhibition for awareness for children with special needs at Regency hospital LTD. Kanpur.
October 4th 2011 : School children Participated in special Olympics Organized by Rotary club of Kanpur industrial and won 7 medals.
November 12th 2011 : The school organized workshop for parents of children with disability on the topic "Life at home and in society with Person with disability(PWD)" at Regency hospital.
November 18th 2011 : Children of the school participated in cultural competition held that Pyssum Lucknow and won award for the best performance.
2012
April 22nd 2012 : World autism awareness day was celebrated by a workshop on autism awareness for lay people by Dr Kavita Arora, renowned pediatric psychiatrist, at the Ragendra Swaroop center for performing arts.
October 12th 2012 : Children participated in special Olympics at green park stadium.
November 9th 2012 : A Free medical checkup camp by IAP ( Indian academy of pediatrics., Kanpur branch)
2013
March 3rd 2013 : School children participated in special Olympics organized by Rotary club of Kanpur industrial and won 12 medals.
April 2nd 2013 : Free screening camp for Autism was organized on World Autism awareness day.
May 18th 2013 : Amrita Organized a two days of workshop on dealing with children with disabilities for post graduate students at Regency Hospital .
2014
April 2nd 2014 : World autism awareness day was celebrated by organizing a rally in collaboration with Regency hospital ltd.
November 12th 2014 : Children participated in cultural event organized by the Rotary club of Kanpur industrial and won best entertaining event prize.
2015
April 2nd 2015 : Autism awareness rally was organized at HBTI during morning walk and made people aware of Autism spectrum diseases.
September 12th 2015 : The school organized a workshop on learning disability management and identification for regular school teachers.
November 28th 2015 : School children participated in cultural event at Lucknow and won award for most innovation presentation.
2016
March 5th 2016 : A Workshop on diet and parenting for parents of children with special needs.
April 2nd 2016 : Autism awareness show was organized at fun play zone on at Rave Moti mall.
July 25th 2016 : Four staff members and 8 children of Amrita were sent to Bangalore for Computer training.
December 7th 2016 : Amrita started a New unit named "Samarth vocational unit for older children and adults with special need."
2017
April 2nd 2017 : Autism awareness rally was organized in collaboration with Rotary club of Kanpur industrial.
October 20th 2017 : Children participated in an sports event named "Ability unlimited" organized by Rotary club of Kanpur industrial. They won many medals.
December 3rd 2017: On international day of person with disability Amrita got best institute award by DM of Kanpur.
2018
April 2nd 2018 : Autism awareness rally was organized in collaboration with Rotary club of Kanpur industrial and Parivartan Group of Kanpur.
October 6th 2018 : The school Organized a workshop on role of Occupational Therapy in developmental disabilities for teachers and parents by Dr Sumit Shindey a renowned occupational therapist from Mumbai.
December 3rd 2018 : School Organized a free screening camp on the occasion of World disability day.
2019
February 15th 2019 : The school organized a workshop on Importance of Occupational therapy with mothers of children with sensory issues.
February 19th 2019 : A Camp for detection of disabilities was organized at the City center of Regency hospital.
March 19th 2019 : The school Organized a free screening camp on the occasion of World Down syndrome day.
April 2nd 2019 : Autism Awareness rally was organized in collaboration with Regency hospital Ltd. Kanpur , Rotary club of Kanpur industrial and Parivartan Group of Kanpur at Nanarao park.
December 2nd 2019 : A s Free screening camp for disability was organized at school.
December 15th 2019 : Amrita completed its 10th year. A big cultural event was organized on the 10th founders day which was attended by around 300 people.
2020
January 20th 2020 : A camp for dental hygiene was organized at the school.
January 29Th 2020 : Amrita expanded and a New building for rehabilitation and vocational center was inaugurated. This new center has all the advanced equipment for occupational therapy, physiotherapy , speech therapy, and psychological assessment. It also has a big vocational center.
